Checklist for NCAA Academic Eligibility
NCAA Eligibility Worksheets for Div I or II – Meet with your guidance counselor to make sure that he/she is aware that you want play a sport in college. Use your up-to-date transcript and your 4 year academic plan in order verify that the courses you have taken/are taking meet the NCAA core course requirements. Update your NCAA worksheet after each grade period and new class registration to make sure you are on track. NCAA Worksheets are available at www.eligibilitycenter.org > Resources > U.S. Students. You may also download an Excel version from the Downloads page. NCAA approved courses are noted next to each course in the SVUSD High School Course Descriptions guide.

SAT/ACT Testing – These tests are required by the NCAA as part of the eligibility process. Review the eligibility requirements on the NCAA Quick Reference Sheet. Use the code “9999” for NCAA to have your test scores reported directly to the NCAA Eligibility Center. Test scores will not be accepted off of high school transcripts.
Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center – Register the summer after your junior year or early in your senior year.
Request high school transcripts sent to the NCAA Eligibility Center – Official high school transcripts (from all high schools attended) must be sent directly to the NCAA Eligibility Center after completing junior year AND after graduation. See instructions for Docufide in the Links section.

Contact the athletic department at the JC you plan to attend to discuss eligibility requirements.

Students must be a high school graduate or must have received a high school equivalency diploma or have been certified as having passed a national test such as the General Education Development Test (GED).

Students must maintain full-time status during the season of the sport(s) in which they have chosen to participate (full-time status being 12 credit hours or more).

Benefits of attending a Community College
Student-athletes may consider attending a community or junior college for a number of reasons: to save money, to improve grades and/or to get more playing experience in order to transfer to a 4-year school. Contact the community college athletic department or the coach directly to inquire about athletic opportunities. Many JCs have guidance counselors and resources dedicated to athletes to help them meet their academic and athletic goals. JCs in the NJCAA are allowed to offer athletic scholarships.
